A responsible safari guide for Sri Lanka

By Serendip Unfolded · Editorial update 24 Oct 2026. General planning guidance based on our proposed routes.

Short answer: A responsible safari uses approved park entrances, permits and authorised vehicles, keeps a safe distance, never feeds wildlife and follows ranger and guide instructions. Good operators will not chase animals or promise sightings.

What we do on every safari

We use approved park entrances, permits and authorised safari vehicles, and we check current closures, seasonal restrictions and gate hours before quoting.

What we never do

No feeding wildlife, no elephant riding, no flash harassment and no off-road driving where it is prohibited.

Questions to ask any operator

Who holds the permits? Is the vehicle licensed? What is included in the fee? How do you handle crowding at a sighting? Honest answers are a good sign.

General planning guidance. Confirm park status, seasons and access for your dates when you request a quote.
